Sumeet Hukamchand Mittal is an Indian writer, director, producer and entrepreneur working in the Indian Television and Film Industry. He is the founder-director of the Shashi Sumeet Group, which is in the business of producing television shows, films and advertisements. Sumeet Mittal was born on 1ST March, 1971 in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. After the untimely demise of his mother, he was taken to Karnal, Haryana, by his grandfather, uncle and aunt. When Mittal was in the 10th grade, he lost his beloved aunt, after which he moved to Ahmedabad along with his grandfather, who adopted him.It was in Ahmedabad where he finished his schooling and further education. When Mittal was 17, he lost his grandfather and took his grandfather's place in their small family business. He met his wife, Shashi while pursuing higher studies and got married to her at the age of 21. In order to support his family, Mittal did some business in the cloth industry, although he harboured dreams of being in the entertainment industry. With this goal in mind, he came to Mumbai in 1994 and enrolled at a diploma course at Asha Chandra's acting institute, where he excelled amongst his batchmates. Following this encouraging response, Mittal found work in a few pilot episodes, but nothing bore fruit according to his expectations. He moved back to Ahmedabad and opened a small boutique, which achieved moderate success, although his heart did not lie in it. His heart lay in the entertainment industry, and he decided to pursue this dream with immense faith in himself. Subsequently, he shut down his boutique and sold off all his belongings, and moved to Mumbai along with his wife and four year old daughter in the year 1998. Blessed with a flair for writing, he started taking up writing assignments, and finally landed a break in the television industry in the year 2004, as a writer for AK Films Pvt. Ltd.'s TV show 'Zameen Se Aasmaan Tak', along with his wife Shashi Mittal, for which they collaborated with Aruna Irani. In 2005, they also worked as writers on Rajshri Productions' Television show 'Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki', which ran successfully for 6 years on Sahara One. Mittal went on to write for many other prominent TV shows following the success of these initial shows. Having achieved prominence as a writer, he was signed on by Rajshri Productions for writing the dialogues and the screenplay for the film 'Ek Vivaah...Aisa Bhi'. With the intention to understand the ropes of direction, Mittal requested the producer of the film 'Ek Vivah.. Aisa Bhi', Mr. Sooraj Barjatya, and its director, Mr. Kaushik Ghatak, to include him in the direction team. His request was readily accepted. In 2009, Mittal was taken on as director and writer for the show ' Sajjan Ghar Jaana Hai'. On the insistence of Mr. Vivek Bahl from the channel Star Plus, Sumeet H. Mittal, along with his wife Shashi, turned producer, and founded the production house Shashi Sumeet Productions Pvt. Ltd. Sumeet H. Mittal has become reknowned as a creative visionary within the Television industry with successful shows like Punar Vivah, Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan ki, Tumhari Pakhi,Tu Mera Hero, Ek Rishta Aisa Bhi and Diya aur Bati Hum, which is one of the most widely viewed and longest running shows in the history of Indian Television. In the year 2013, Mittal's company ventured into the film industry as Shashi Sumeet Motion Pictures Pvt. Ltd., with the release of the marathi film 'Rangkarmi' which achieved many critical accolades like the Certificate of Excellence at the prestigious 4th DadaSaheb Phalke Film Festival 2014. With the launch of Shashi Sumeet Innovations,a creative, advertising and events agency, in the year 2014; and Qats Whiskers, an advertising production house, also in the year 2014, Sumeet H. Mittal has been able to convert Shashi Sumeet Productions into the Shashi Sumeet Group and has become a major force to reckon with in the entertainment and media industry. Personal Life: Sumeet H. Mittal lives with his wife Shashi and their two daughters. His wife, Shashi Mittal is also a writer, producer and co-founder of the Shashi Sumeet Group.
