Multiple award-winning screenwriter Bret Kofford is known for his funny, poignant feature films, short films and television episodes. Kofford's feature film "Christmas in July," directed by Myles Matsuno, won numerous awards, as did his short film "Margaret," directed by Manan Singh Katohora. Those films and other of his short and feature films have been shown on Netflix, Amazon Prime, the CW, UPtv, Televisa, HBO Eastern Europe, ShortsTV and various other channels and sites. After having success at a young age in co-writing an episode of the ABC prime-time comedy "Sledge Hammer!' with his brother Brooke Kofford, Bret Kofford left screenwriting to pursue other forms of writing. Since his return to screenwriting about a decade ago, Bret Kofford has had two feature films, two short films and a television episode produced. Another feature film script, "Kids Just Wanna Have Fun," which is a musical about a group of poor kids of color being bused into a wealthy white neighborhood, was co-written by Kofford and director producer/director Cecile Cinco and is in pre-production. It is expected to be shot late in 2021. Kofford also works as a full-time writing instructor at San Diego State University-Imperial Valley.
