Born in 1982, Karan Boolani began his career in advertising. By the age of 22 he had produced over 500 commercials, filming in over 38 countries. Following that he left India and enrolled into Bond University, Australia, where he completed his post graduation in Film and Television. His short feature, La fourchette, played at a number of international festivals and won best film at the New York Short Film festival. On returning back to India, he started directing commercials and documentaries full time. He has worked with brands like Google, Mastercard, Nike, HUL, Pepsi, L'oreal and has a director credit in over 60 commercials and 2 Feature Length Documentaries. His debut feature 'That Healing Feeling' toured the festival circuit and won him a lot of recognition in the Indian Documentary Fraternity. At 27 he was the youngest member on the executive board of the Indian Documentary Producers Association. In early 2016, he directed the final 12 episodes of the Indian adaptation of the HBO (Now Fox Star) show 24 starring Anil Kapoor. This would go on to become the biggest Indian television show. In 2018 he started work on the adaptation of the Booker prize winning author Arvind Adiga's novel selection Day. He is the Indian show runner, producer and director of the the full first season of Selection Day which is now available on Netflix. His next show is a coming of age college musical set in mid-west America around Indian students studying away from home. Oscar winner AR rahaman is signed on to collaborate with him.
