Azeem Khan is an award-winning writer-director-producer. Born in Peshawar, Pakistan, in 1965, Azeem moved to England at the age of five. Growing up in Ilford, East London, Azeem opted for a career as a film-maker in his teens and graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University's Film & TV School in 1989 with a 2:1. He cut his teeth as a professional film director with Pepsi and Whirlpool TV commercials for Ogilvy & Mather and J. Walter Thompson's affiliated advertising agencies in Karachi, Pakistan. Azeem was also producer on over thirty other TV ads, as well as copy-writing a LU Gala Biscuit commercial that was so popular it ran for over 15 years on prime time network television in Pakistan, virtually unchanged in its concept. On return to the UK, Azeem produced hard-hitting documentaries for the BBC and ITV, working on the Synchro arts series, Black Britain, First Sight, the BBC1 Ramadan series, Inside Out, as well as being part of the team at leading independent production companies such as Brook Lapping, Roger Bolton, Baby Cow, Partners in Production, Mountain of Light and others. Azeem has produced, written and directed many short drama films and documentaries, including the award-winning drama "Open Secrets", starring BAFTA nominee Saeed Jaffrey on mental health, and the critically acclaimed psychological thriller "Disorder", about pedophilia. His novel "The Nature of Flames" was published by Chipmunka in 2011. Azeem has written three feature length film scripts, of which "Hidden Colours" and "Mo the Grass" are currently in development with producers. Azeem is in pre-production with "Watching the English", a British romantic-drama. Although Azeem Khan is a producer-writer-director, he has professional experience as a cameraman, sound recordist and video editor.
