Indie pop-rock singer/songwriter Paula Kelley was born in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in the town of Wenham. Paula began taking piano lessons at age three and was an orchestral harpsichordist in high school (she also taught herself to play guitar while in high school). Among the instruments she plays are bass, drums, piano, and guitar. Kelley attended Phillips Exeter Academy from 1989 to 1992 and majored in both history and political science at Boston University, which she attended from 1992 to 1996. Paula started her musical career as a member of the Boston band the Drop Nineteens before leaving the group in 1994. Kelley was also briefly in the bands Hot Rod and Boy Wonder. She released her debut solo album "Nothing/Everything" in 2001; this album was extremely well received by critics. Paula's follow-up album "The Trouble With Success or How You Fit Into the World" came out in 2003; this exquisitely lush orchestral pop gem once again garnered hugely favorable reviews from critics. Kelley's music is distinguished by her sweet, girlish, angelic voice, sharp, witty songwriting, and deliciously rich and harmonic instrumental arrangements. Paula has contributed songs to the soundtracks of the films "Fever Pitch" and "Arbie." She released the CD "Airports EP" in 2008. Moreover, Kelley is not only a statistical genius, but also a member of MENSA. She fronts her own group called the Paula Kelley Orchestra. Paula Kelley lives in Los Angeles, California.
