Baroness Shields has recently been very involved in the UK political and tech world, serving almost as a bridge for the two. She is the UK Minister for Internet Safety and Security, and just before this appointment she served as Prime Minister David Cameron's Digital Advisor and the CEO and Chair of Tech City UK. In this position she was responsible for leading the UK's digital economy strategy, which included a number of successful initiatives such as the Future 50, Tech Nation, the Digital Business Academy, and more. Before her appointments in the government, Baroness Joanna Shields spent the majority of her career working in the tech industry in both the United States and the United Kingdom. This included work for some of the world's biggest tech giants such as AOL, Facebook, and Google, as well as for many startups that ended with successful acquisitions (Bebo, Decru, and Veon to name a few).
