U. Ohn Maung

U Ohn Maung was the creator of the first Burmese silent film. He was Burma's first producer / director and the founder of The Burma Film Company. For bringing Myanmar film industry to existence, U Ohn Maung is highly regarded as the father of Burmese cinema. To commemorate such breakthrough, October 13, 1920, the day the film "Myitta Ne Thuya" premiered is celebrated as the Myanmar Movie Day.
