Virginia Maestro Díaz was born on September 29th, 1982, in Linares, Spain. She was introduced to music at a very early age by her family. By the age of 12, she was already singing and composing her own songs with a guitar. Virginia used to listen to the likes of The Beatles, Janis Joplin, Ray Charles, Otis Redding and Eva Cassidy, among others, many of whom would end up being a massive influence for her. At 15, she joined her first band as a lead singer, playing mostly cover versions. A couple years later, Virginia started her Music Teacher Education studies, and became a soprano for the University of Seville choir. She would perform in bars and jazz clubs of the region, taking part in jam sessions and creating several bands for years. Success came when she entered the Spanish talent show Operación Triunfo in 2008, winning the contest by popular vote. Virginia is the vocalist of Labuat, a project consisting of herself, publicist Risto Mejide as composer and electronic duet The Pinker Tones as producers. It was launched late in 2008 and the group released their first album in February, 2009.
