Johan Museeuw, nicknamed the Lion of Flanders ("De Leeuw van Vlaanderen"), is a former Belgian professional road racing cyclist born 1965. A professional cyclist between 1988 and 2004, he amassed a total of 113 victories on the road including the UCI Road World Championships 1996 in Lugano, Switzerland the day of his 31st birthday, three times cobbled classics Tour of Flanders and Paris Roubaix and twice the Belgian national road championships. Museeuw spent his glory years as a rider with the Italian professional cycling team Mapei, mid 1990s and late 1990s. He retired with Quick Step Floors-Davitamon in the spring of 2004, after the Paris Roubaix and Scheldeprijs races.
