Mario Glaviano is an Oakland based cinematographer who oscillates between narrative and documentary productions. Born and raised in San Jose, California, he graduated from San Diego State University in 2010 where he studied film production (although he focused more on comparative literature and philosophy). Mario's first foray into narrative cinematography was in 2011 on a film inspired by the cinema verite of John Cassavetes called "The Last Time I Saw Soap" which won Best Feature Film (USA) at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. In 2014 Mario was collaborative director on the feature documentary "The Ambassador of God," an exploration into the life of an offbeat spiritual teacher. More recently Mario launched his video production company "The Documentarists," a studio that produces brand stories, event videos, and commercials throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2021 he lensed SIMP, his second narrative feature film, with his longtime friend and collaborator Tremain Hayhoe. SIMP is currently in post production. Mario is the co-director and cinematographer of the documentary, The Cat Town Story.
