Gabriele Spinelli was born near Milan. He is a self-taught filmmaker and actor. Known for his multifaceted attitude towards filmmaking and his deep knowledge of the production process, he has worked on many different movies, shorts and documentaries both independent and studio funded. Since his teenage years he was involved in the creative business, at first working in the electronic music scene as producer and concert organiser and later on in videos and films. In the late 90's he joined forces with Gian Alfonso "Gipi" Pacinotti, who would later become a best-selling comics artist, and together started producing a series of short movies often seeing Mr. Spinelli as the main actor; this is when he started experimenting with acting and with his own image. He began studying acting and impersonating more difficult characters each time. Meanwhile, Gabriele was also working as a full time documentary author and editor. In 2009 he authored and edited the award winning documentary "211: Anna" which was nominated at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2011 he makes his debut on the big screen as the main character in the feature film "The Last Man on Earth - L'Ultimo Terrestre" which was nominated at Venice Film Festival and helped him gather widespread recognition for his work, winning the best actor award at the Bobbio Film Festival in the same year. Since then he continued pursing his acting career on many independent projects while also working behind the camera on a variety of video clips as director and cinematographer. In 2015 he founded Laclac, a video laboratory with an handicraft approach to filmmaking.
