Daniel Kepler was born in Hollywood, California. Raised in LA and Hawaii, Daniel was surrounded by the film industry. His father Denny was a career film technician and color timer at Technicolor, as was his father. Daniel's mother was a teacher and administrator, and gave Daniel his first 35mm camera. Daniel shot his first film in high school, in Spanish, for a final senior project. He later attended film school in Pasadena as well as Northridge, with a focus in Direction where he produced and directed dozens of short form projects. While in his senior year at CSUN, Daniel was invited for a 3D Lecture at Walt Disney Studios where he met Executive Director of Post Production and now friend, Mark Harrah, who took notice of Daniel, and asked him to shadow him around town. Immediately following college Daniel took post on his first studio feature, "The Dark Knight Rises", as the 70mm(IMAX) Dailies Coordinator. Next he worked with Picture Mill, a main title graphics house where he helped produce several notable feature mains, main on ends, trailers, and edited four quarters of HBO commercial campaigns. In 2012 Daniel joined Luma Pictures, a premiere visual effects vendor in Santa Monica, as VFX Editor and Technical Coordinator producing many of Hollywood's flagship studio films including 13 straight Marvel features. While at Luma he was hired to create and supervise VFX for Jacob Murray's Science Fiction Thriller "Circadia", earning several visual effects awards and nominations. He left Luma in 2017 to further his career as a union Visual Effects Editor working on "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" at Sony Pictures, and "Velvet Buzzsaw" at Netflix. He was then approached by Director Nick Brokaw to create and supervise the visual effects for his WWII film "The Last Patrol on Okinawa", slated for the 2020 festival circuit. During this time, Daniel produced and directed two commercials for the Tesla Model 3 before returning to the editorial team at Marvel for "Spider-man: Far from Home". Following Spidey, Daniel worked at Amblin Entertainment, Sony Pictures, and CBS Studios, before returning to the chair to direct, produce and star in his own pandemic themed mocumentary series, "The Prepared One", co-directed by new friend Clint Riffo. Not long after working with Riffo, the duo started their own production company, Joint Venture Productions, and have since produced dozens of commercial and short form content for brands like Rowhouse, The VSEAT® and William Murray Golf. Daniel's currently working on Bryan Cranston's second season of Your Honor and enjoying working from home - as well as creating art in any other form - handcrafting coffee, baking rustic tartine sourdough bread, and anything else to keep him busy.
