Giovanna Morales Vargas

Giovanna Morales Vargas is a writer-director and a journalist originally from Colombia, currently based out of Vancouver, Canada. Driven to highlight underrepresented communities through visual storytelling as a Latinx filmmaker, and advance women's creative roles in media. Giovanna's writing feature and directorial debut, A Perfect 14 (2020), screened at film festivals around the world earning her the Storyteller Award at the Women Texas Film Festival. The film also won five top non-fiction awards, including Best Documentary at the Twin Cities Film Festival, where it showed alongside Academy Award-winning and nominated films. After a very successful festival run, A Perfect 14 was picked up for worldwide distribution by Gravitas Ventures, and it's streaming on Amazon Prime Video, making the platform's top 10 most watched documentaries in Canada for several weeks after its release. Giovanna is now writing her second feature length documentary, and developing her first narrative feature.
