Destiny West was born in Perth, Western Australia. She started writing horror professionally in 2000 whilst living in the UK. Since then she has written numerous short stories and won 'best short horror story of 2004' award for her story Craven. In 2004 she started working as an interviewer for underground American horror publication Red Scream Magazine, before being promoted to Non Fiction Editor and then Editor in Chief. Destiny was known for her unique style of interviews, set in a dungeon, with the interview in a story style mode. Her first novel Lamia was published in 2007, and became labeled as too extreme for mainstream, because of its erotica/horror content. Destiny moonlighted as a mainstream journalist for nearly 10 years with her own column in a newspaper. In 2016 she set up a film production company with fellow writer/film maker Casper Jean Rimbaud. Destiny is also the Editor for the Australian Film Network Journal, and has a podcast called Ozploitation. Destiny says her love for horror began at a very early age, when she saw her first Hammer Horror film and fell in love with Dracula and vampires in general.
