Derek Stefan was born and raised in Santa Rosa, California in the heart of what is now known as Sonoma County Wine Country. In 1987 he was admitted to UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television where he was a classmate of Jack Black. Derek spent the years between 1987 and 1997 studying acting, pursuing work in Film/TV, and working in plays in the L.A. area. Stage credits including two seasons of Shakespeare Orange County appearing with Alan Mandell in "King Lear" and Ron Campbell in "Richard III" as well as in critically-acclaimed productions at Laguna Playhouse, Long Beach Playhouse/Studio Theater, and Alternative Repertory Theater, and in 1996 the Los Angeles premiere of Edward Bond's "Early Morning" appearing with Burr Steers at Evidence Room. He appeared on NBC's "Hull High" (1990) with Michael Cudlitz earning his SAG card. In 1991 Derek starred in and co-produced with director Scott Jackman the 30 min. short called "Soliloquy" in the classic film noir style which garnered a finalist position in the SONY/AFI Visions of US contest which screened at the AFI. Recent work includes award-winning feature film, "American Wrestler: The Wizard" starring Jon Voight and William Fichtner, feature film "The Boat Builder" by Arnold Grossman starring Christopher Lloyd, and short films "Tartman", "Warm & Toasty", and "The Future Has No Future". Derek is a member of SAG-AFTRA and is represented by NYLO Model & Talent Agency in San Francisco/NorCal, ADR Agency in Hawaii, and Mireille Wilson of Midwest Talent Management in Los Angeles.
