Mike James (Born Michael James Flores on Jan. 6, 1978) is a Texan native, born in Harlingen, Texas and raised in Houston. While booking events and bar tending at Fitzgerald's in 2006, a filmmaker friend (Stacy Davidson, director of "Sweatshop") suggested that James host a monthly film mixer at the famed venue. He founded Burlap Monkey Productions in Spring of 2007, then started working with fellow local filmmaker Wayne Slaten as his assistant director on a few award winning 48 hr film projects as well as the supernatural feature "Backroad" until 2009. Then in September 2009, James started directing, producing and writing his own film projects. In 2011, he began work on the Fantasy/Drama "Jésus," taking the reins on all aspects of production - using Houston multimedia artists Jonatan Lopez, Max Xanduax, and Patrick D. Green as talent to moderate notice. He began work on the psychological thriller web series "Love, Why Don't You Stay" that featured more Houston talent including singer La Catrin in 2012, which premieres Fall 2013. He will also have a small role in Wayne Slaten's upcoming multi-million dollar Sci-fi feature "Patriot Act."
