Peter Brunner, born in 1983, is a Vienna-based filmmaker and musician (Cardiochaos). The son of a psychoanalyst and a painting therapist is a former student of Michael Haneke at the Vienna Film Academy. His work includes short films and music videos as well as the feature "Sickness of the Youth", which he directed together with fellow students and in which he played the leading role. His feature film debut "My Blind Heart" premiered at Slamdance Film Festival and in the Tiger Competition at Rotterdam International Film Festival 2014, and won several awards at international film festivals, including a nomination for the Golden Frog at Camerimage Film Festival. His sophomore feature "Those Who Fall Have Wings" was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the 50th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival 2015. Brunners english-language debut "To the Night" (2018) starring Caleb Landry Jones was call "a psychological acid trip of a movie" by THR and premiered at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. In 2019 the principal photography for his horror-drama "The split Tongue" starts which will be produced by Ulrich Seidl.
