Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia Matt moved to Calgary, Alberta Canada in 1994. Matt worked on his first movie (James Cameron's "Ghost of the Abyss" 2002) in St John"s, Newfoundland. After attending film school and university in Calgary, Matt started his career in film primarily in Calgary and St. John's. Matt is an avid snowboarder, starting at the age of 11. Throughout his 35 plus years riding, Matt has amassed a large collection of vintage snowboards.
