In 2010 Gaalan became the Artistic Director of 11:11 Productions. Producing Gwendoline Yeo in her "Laughing With My Mouth Wide Open".In 2011 Gaalan was named Producing Director of The Black Dahlia Theatre in Los Angeles. Where he has continued producing original theatre including; "Forgiveness", starring Emily Bergl, Lee Garlington, Morlan Higgins, Peter Smith, and Kendall Toole; "Secrets Of The Trade",starring John Glover, and "Tryst", starring Gabriel Olds and Deborah Puette. Gaalan's productions have garnered recognition in the form of Ovation Awards, Garland Awards, Los Angeles Weekly and Los Angeles Critics Circle Awards. Prior to working at The Black Dahlia Gaalan founded and served as Artistic Director of the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway Theatre, The New Mercury Players. While there he produced Jodie's Body, Hallow'd Ground, Desperalexs, How To Cook A Man, One For The Road, The Collection and Co-Produced the Urbana Poetry Slam. Jodie's Body was noticed by Gloria Steinem and Julian Schlossberg and was promptly transferred uptown to the new Arclight Theater, where it garnered a Drama Desk nomination for best Solo Performance as well as entry into the 2001 Sundance Theater Festival, and was selected on the 10 Best Plays Lists of Time Out New York and the new York Daily News ('98-'99). It was also published in The Theater Yearbook: Best Plays of 1998-99, Limelight Editions and was the Longest Running One-Woman Show 1997-1999. Jodie's Body continues to tour venues nationally and internationally - being critically acclaimed in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, London, Louisville, and enjoyed an 18-week sold-out run in Sacramento. Gaalan helped Co-Found the Arclight Theater and continued to produce a string of critically praised work including A Mom's Life (Catherine Grody, Jack Hofsiss directed). Associate-Produced Tennessee Williams Remembered (starring Anne Jackson & Eli Wallach, Gene Saks directed). Associate-Produced, APSMed, & Understudied, It's My Party... (Starring F. Murray Abraham, Joyce Van Patton, Adam Grupper, & John Carriani, Jeannie Berlin directed). Company Managed The Passion of Frida Kahlo (starring Priscilla Lopez & Anilu Pardo, Michael John Garces directed). Gaalan then moved to Broadway where he Produced (above title) Squonk - BigsmorgasbordWunderwerk at the Helen Hayes Theater, NYC. He was the Executive Producer of Squonkumentary (The Making of...Documentary). Produced and Directed the Squonk - Broadway commercials, for broadcast on Network and Cable nationwide as well as the Jumbo-Tron in Times Square. Squonk continues to tour nationally. Winner of the American Theater Wing - Best Broadway Design. The Original Cast Recording is Available on Angel Records. Gaalan also Co-Produced the LABrynth Theater Company's workshop production of Jesus Hopped the A Train, by Stephen Adly Gurgis, directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman featuring John Ortiz.
