She casually walks into the radio station, never before having written a commercial and wins "People's Choice" in the "Year in Review" for one of the hottest radio stations in the nation? Writer and director of "The Five Heartbeats", Mr. Robert Townsend, on national television, pronounced to the world, "Nedra Simone...Brilliant". Nedra began her journey in 1998 by appearing in front of the camera on music videos and on the silver screen as an extra in the taboo film Pandora's Box. She has worked with the likes of creative genius Robert Townsend and music moguls Jermaine Dupri and Christopher 'Ludacris' Bridges, establishing ground in the music and entertainment industry. Although the distance from in front of the camera to behind it, is but a mere few feet away...her continued journey as a writer, director, and producer has been a distance, allowing the world to envision and await her creative immortality. The year 2002 debuted writer, director and producer, Nedra Simone's freshman stage play, Lightning Strikes III Times at Atlanta, Georgia's renowned The 14th Street Playhouse. New to the scene with minimal experience in marketing and promotions, her Grass Root marketing and promotional strategy allowed her very first production to become a mammoth SELL-OUT success. Having to turn away over 50 people at the door in Atlanta, Ms. Simone met with the same sold-out success in Detroit, Michigan at the Paul Robeson Theatre. . Nedra's sophomore production Pretty People/Ugly Ways hits the stages in 2003. Once again meeting with a huge success, her sophomore project plays at both the Rialto Theatre and The 14th Street Playhouse in Atlanta, allowing Pretty People/Ugly Ways to closes out to an astonishing Sold-Out audience at The Florida Theatre In Jacksonville. The longest five minutes of her life, ironically at another stage play, came in 2004 when meeting with Robert Townsend at the Atlanta Civic Center. This chance meeting with Mr. Townsend led to the inspiration and opportunity to work with him, penning the creation of Guilty Innocence for Townsend's Playhouse 22, which aired on the Black Family Channel in 2005. After meeting Mr. Townsend Nedra Simone had no idea that in 2005 she would return to the Atlanta Civic Center. Her junior project, partnered with Dr. Tiy-e Muhammad, entitled Secrets Men Keep, was a more than stellar three consecutive days SOLD OUT theatrical venue. Her fourth and senior stage play Voices, starring platinum selling R&B group Silk's Gary 'Lil G' Jenkins, Sold-Out in 2007 allowing her to graduate with honors in theatrical productions. That evening in Atlanta, GA at the Georgia World Congress Center, during intermission, taste palates were tempted with a sneak preview of her next, highly anticipated, on stage wonder A Dancer's Story. It's been a rite of passage and an astonishing creative journey for the gifted Ms. Nedra Simone.
