Janus Victoria works in both documentaries and features. Born and based in Manila, she makes films about urban life that juxtapose dissimilarities between cities and depict how people and places interact. She has completed four short features and a documentary. Her first short film Hopia Express received the Best Short Film Award at the 2006 Cinemanila International Film Festival. It is the first film in the trilogy Pares (Pairs), a series named after a complementary beef and rice dish popular in sidewalk eateries of Metro Manila but features unlikely pairings of alienated individuals in the city. The second short in the series is Aurora, My Aurora (2012) and the final is Viva Viva Escolta (2016). In 2010, her short Dalaw (Visit) became a finalist at the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival. Her documentary Encounters with Silence premiered at the 2017 DMZ International Documentary Film Festival and received the Best Short Documentary + Award at the Japan Los Angeles Film Festival.
