Scotty is a writer/producer/director whose career as a journalist took a major detour when his editor asked a life-altering question: "Why do you need a journalism degree if you already know how to write and work for a newspaper?" Journalism segued into law enforcement where plans to become a crime writer gave way to an actual law enforcement career. Despite the winding path that included stints with U.S. Customs and local law enforcement assignments from homicide detective to deep undercover work, SWAT and more, Scotty never abandoned the creative realm. He wrote, produced and hosted a local cable-access television program and went on to form his own production company (while still working his various law enforcement assignments). Upon retiring from the cop world, he completed the UCLA Professional Screenwriting Program and transitioned into writing and filmmaking. When not engaged in those activities, he can be found working as a law enforcement consultant to other screenwriters and as an interview and interrogation consultant for the State of California.
