Oliver Langewitz was born in Karlsruhe. He studied Arts (Literature, Philosophy and Sociology) at the KIT, Karlsruhe's Institute for Technologie with the Degree of a Magister Artium in 2003. After that, he made his Philosophical Doctor in sociological sciences in 2008. His thesis "The Movie Society", based on the theory of social exchange by George Casper Homans was about the professional networks in the film business. He was co-founder of the international film festival Independent Days in Karlsruhe. Since 2006, Langewitz is the festival director of the worldwide well known festival for low- and no-budget films. In film business, Langewitz started his career in the late 1990ties as an editor, writer and production assistance for TV-films (ARD, ZDF), music clips and short films. In 2003, he started a film production company, Bohemia Filmkunst with Michael Nagenborg. In 2007, he founded the Filmboard Karlsruhe, a filmmaker's network and film commission for the Technology Region of Karlsruhe. As a Public Relations-Consultant and press speaker, Langewitz works for different companies, for example the Karlsruhe Trade and Fairs (2010), City Marketing of Karlsruhe (2014), Karlsruhe Event GmbH (2016). He is still producing feature films, documentaries, short films and series. With his feature documentary "One World - Different People" he has won 5 Awards, for example the World Documentary Awards (WDA), the Award of Merit at the San Francisco Movie Awards and the Humanitarian Platinum Award at the Humanitarian International Film awards.
