Hannah Espia-Farbová is an award-winning Filipino filmmaker and Fulbright Scholar. Premiering at the Busan International Film Festival to critical acclaim, her first feature film Transit (2013) was hailed as an "impressive debut" by Variety and was the Philippines' entry to the 86th Academy Awards®. In 2014, Espia-Farbová won the prestigious Gawad Urian Critic's Award for Best Director, making her only the third female director to receive this honor in its 37 years. In 2018, Transit (2013)" was screened at the Museum of Modern Art in New York as part of the film series "A New Golden Age: Contemporary Philippine Cinema" and was ranked 11 out of 100 Best Filipino Films directed by Women in a 2019 poll by Filipino critics. In 2020, she directed two episodes of Almost Paradise (2020) the first American television series to be shot entirely in the Philippines. She is an alumnus of Berlinale Talents Tokyo (2012), Berlinale Talents (2013 and 2015), Pop-Up Film Residency Visegrad (2021), and is a recipient of the Asian Cinema Fund and the Next Masters Tokyo Project Development Fund.
