Tyler has garnered attention both within his community and at a variety of film and theatre festivals throughout Canada. "Backtrack", his entry in the 2005 Take 48 Film Festival, won top honours in addition to scoring Best Overall Production, Best Drama, and Best Original Screenplay at that year's "Halton Eddies" Regional Festival. Backtrack would also place second in the "Jump Cuts Student Showcase" - a subdivision of the Toronto International Film Festival. Tyler has also enjoyed success on stage winning three Best Overall Production honours at the annual Show of Hands Drama Festival; two of which he wrote, directed and acted in. His comedy, "The Last Stop" (co-produced with close friend and co-writer, Scott Meiklejohn), went on to the Sears Drama Festival where it received an Award of Excellence for writing and direction. Tyler has plans to adapt the piece for film in the near future. Accepted into the prestigious theatrical performing arts program at Ryerson University in Toronto, Tyler has married his passion for performance and visual aesthetic with film instead. Having competed at both the YoungCuts Student Film Festival in Montreal and the Mississauga Independent Film Festival in 2008, Tyler received his first festival win at the 2009 Millbrook International Film Festival for his documentary "Kings of Queen", taking home the award for best cinematography.
