Luis Canau works in the Portuguese animation industry since the end of the 1990s, performing several technical roles, from scanning and ink and paint in a traditional 2D animation production to the supervision of a Toon Boom Harmony network and workflow. Since 2008, he works mainly as compositing artist, editor, and technical director in animation. Canau worked on the TV series Angelitos (2002), a Portuguese/Brazilian co-production, and a vast array of art-house short films, such as João Fazenda's Sem Querer (2011) and Pedro Brito's Fado Do Homem Crescido (2012), selected, respectively, for the Annecy and Clermont-Ferrand film festivals. More recently, he worked on the cut-out animation series Histórias do Lucas (2015) and on the short films by Sara Barbas, Final Call (2016), and Catarina Sobral, Razão entre Dois Volumes (2018).
