Augustus Staples was born in Kingston Jamaica, and grew up in Greenwich Town until the age of 20 when he joined the Jamaica Defence Force where he served for seven years. Parents: Alvash Staple (Deceased), Ivy Staple (Nee Stubbs) - Deceased He attended Denham Town Primary (Now St Andrew Primary) from 1968 to 1971, and Kingston College from 1971 to 1977. After leaving the military he attended the University of the West Indies Mona (UWI, Mona), where he obtained a BA with first class honors. He also has an MA in counselling psychology from Yorkville University. His acting began at infant school and church in school and church plays. While at Kingston College he participated in two award winning French Drama Festival plays. he also participated in Advent Fellowship plays at UWI, Mona. Augustus acted in the play, A Ship to Zion, which played at the Little Theatre, Jamaica and in Zurich, Switzerland. Augustus was the voice of the journalist and Alan in the Jamaica Broadcasting Service's Malvina Revenge which aired in the early 1990s. He auditioned for a part in How Stella Got Her Groove Back.
