Kate Tucker is a Nashville-based performing artist, songwriter, producer and filmmaker. She is co-founder of BriteHeart, an artivist platform whose mission is to engage, connect and empower citizens for positive change through civic engagement. Called "admirably ambitious" by Huffington Post, Tucker enlisted the collaborative energy of filmmakers, musicians, visual artists and choreographers from all over the world to create The Shape The Color The Feel, a visual album that includes ten music videos, two short films, an art exhibition and a forthcoming documentary. Tucker's experience producing music videos of her own brought her to fashion and film, producing projects for Remedial Media, Conde Nast, Moving Studio, Nicole Kidman and Karen Elson. Tucker is currently directing the feature-length documentary Comeback Evolution about the life and work of Walter Delbridge, a 72 year-old poet and artist living with schizophrenia. Kate Tucker has won "Best Score" and "Best Picture" awards for her acting and composing work on the feature film Everything Went Down, and has participated in various film festivals including Sundance, TIFF, and Stony Brook, where in addition to performing with her band, she has spoken on the intersection of film and music. In 2006, Tucker started Red Valise Recordings, the boutique imprint that releases her solo work along with that of her band, Sons of Sweden. Her songs have been featured on network and cable television, indie films, video games, and college and commercial radio. In 2017 Tucker announced a new indie pop project, Little Reader, whose full-length album, The Big Score, produced by Mark Watrous of The Shins, dropped in May. 2018 brought the release of Practical Sadness, a solo LP Tucker released on vinyl and a US tour to back it up.
