PJ Black is a South African professional wrestler, formerly known in WWE as Justin Gabriel. Currently wrestling for Lucha Underground and several independents, he also operates under his nickname Darewolf. Trained by his father at a young age, PJ is a second-generation wrestler who debuted at the age of 16, competing in events in the United Kingdom and South Africa. Admiring his father, he decided to follow in his footsteps, soon moving to the United Kingdom where he was trained by Alex Shane and Mark Sloan. Competing for the World Wrestling Professionals (WWP), his most notable feuds were against Tornado, Dameon Duke, Mikey Whiplash, and Joe E. Legend. During his time for the promotion, he held the World Cruiserweight Champion title for 13 days whilst wrestling as Justin Angel. In 2008, he signed a three-year contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), becoming the first South African in the company. Training in the company's developmental division Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), he won the FCW Heavyweight Championship under the ring name 'Justin Gabriel'. It is safe to say that the wrestler remains a fan favorite due to his high risk, high entertainment wrestling style. Promoted to the NXT roster in 2011, his excellent talent led him to join The Nexus, who later migrated to the main shows Raw and Smackdown, decimating the competition. Once the group disbanded, he went on to singles competition and numerous tag teams. During his time at WWE, he won 2 Slammy Awards and 3 Tag Team Titles. After leaving WWE, he soon adopted the name PJ Black and has made appearances for a number of independent companies around the world, as well as TNA, Ring of Honor and Lucha Underground, where he held the Trios Championship.
