Jessica M. Thompson is an Emmy-nominated Australian filmmaker who resides in Los Angeles. Jess made her feature writing-directorial debut with "The Light of the Moon", which won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Film at the SXSW Film Festival. "The Light of the Moon", starring Stephanie Beatriz (In The Heights, Brooklyn Nine-Nine), enjoyed a limited theatrical release to sold-out screens in both New York and Los Angeles, and heralds a 97% Rotten Tomatoes score. The Hollywood Reporter stated, "Thompson clearly has a knack with actors, coaxing sharp, believable performances", and Hollywood News named it "the timeliest movie of the year." Jess was the lead director on "The End", a new television series recently acquired by Showtime, produced by the Academy Award-winning See-Saw Films (The King's Speech, Lion). "The End" is a dramedy about euthanasia, told through three generations of a dysfunctional family who are trying to die with dignity, live with none, and make it count. It has received five-star-reviews from The Times and The Guardian. In 2010, Jess founded Stedfast Productions, a collective of visual storytellers who use film to explore the complexity of the human story. Jess is repped by Creative Artists Agency (CAA), Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment, and Independent Talent Group (UK).
