She billed herself as Baby Jane Dexter to distinguish herself from her mother Jane Nesbitt Dexter, who was an actress. She died of heart failure and complications of diabetes at the Lillian Booth Actors Home. She performed in nightclubs in the New York area and had performed at Kennedy Center and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. She released five albums from 1993 to 2008. She had developed a program called Healing Through Entertainment, which, through personal stories and songs, coached women to cope with depression, domestic violence, homelessness and rape.
