Dauro Veras is an independent professional journalist for Brazilian media, covering technological innovation and environmental issues, as well as other social and economic themes. He also works as a scriptwriter in fiction and non-fiction video productions, in a wide range of issues. As a writer and co-director, he received awards at film festivals in Brazil, Portugal and Costa Rica for the documentary film Espírito de Porco (Piggish Spirit, 2009), that focuses on social and environmental impacts of industrial pig breeding. He also has been part of the scriptwriters team who wrote the series Fanátic@s (2017), a sit-com in 13 episodes about religious intolerance, aired on public television channels. He graduated in Social Communication at Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), in his hometown Florianópolis. Since 2008, he is a contributor reporter for Valor Econômico, the main economics newspaper in Brazil. The professional recognition throughout his career include the Esso Journalism Prize, and the Vladimir Herzog Journalistic Award of Amnesty and Human Rights.
