Violet McVinnie was born on October 19, 1987 in north London, UK. She grew up on the south coast where she initially started work on the game Black Mesa (2012) as well as several other game mods of the time before moving to Edmonton, Canada for her first job in the industry. While at Bioware she worked on Mass Effect 2 (2010), Star Wars: The Old Republic (2011), Dragon Age II (2011), Mass Effect 3 (2012), and Dragon Age: Inquisition (2014). During the last project she developed cancer and was left bed ridden for 6 months. After which she decided to go in a new direction and started work for Valve on the award winning game, Team Fortress 2 (2007). During this time she was asked to produce an update and movie, End of the Line (2014). In 2015, Violet moved to Tokyo, Japan where she built and ran a café for several years before returning to the UK to pursue game development once more. She worked briefly for Codemasters, before starting up her own game studio Long Way Home, which is working on its first title, Resistor.
