Carissa Dorson

Carissa Dorson is a union director of photography originally from Silver Spring, Maryland. She began her career in comedy, shooting videos that garnered hundreds of millions of views for websites like CollegeHumor, Funny or Die, Cracked, and Nerdist. She has since expanded to features, commercials, music videos and short films. She recently lensed "I Think She Likes You," which premiered at Tribeca. Her latest feature, "It's a Party," starring SNL's Ego Nwodim, is now streaming on Showtime. Carissa's commercial clients include Google, Lululemon, Glad Press'n Seal, Dos Equis, Ford, and Brita, for which she filmed a spot starring Stephen Curry. In 2019, Carissa shot and directed a dance film, "Alive," for the launch of Panasonic's S1H camera, and has since spoken at trade shows on behalf of Panasonic. Carissa loves taking on a variety of genres from dramas to comedies to psychological thrillers! She is most fulfilled by using the camera to explore relationships and what it means to be human. She is also a fine art photographer, with an interest in portraiture. Her ongoing photo series, Funny People. Serious Photos, was featured in L.A. Weekly. Carissa graduated with a BFA from Florida State University's College of Motion Picture Arts in 2011. When she is not filming or taking photos, she loves playing Ultimate Frisbee and seeing improv shows at UCB. She is based in Los Angeles.
