Kaiya Pelletier was born in a small town outside of Boston Massachusetts. Her mother (a producer and film editor) and her father (a musician) separated shortly after she was born. After the split, her mother moved her to Austin, Texas, where she was raised. By the age of nine, she signed with her first talent agent and began doing commercials and print work on a regular basis. At the age of 13, she tried out for the lead role in the Coen Brother's movie "True Grit" and worked in several scenes of the movie as an extra. In the winter of 2010, when she was just 14, she started the Youtube channel "imaKaiya." During the summer of 2011, Kaiya relocated with her mother to Portland Oregon. Kaiya feels strongly that along with her regular acting classes and coaching, she needs to gain a broad base of experience in life. "After all, if I'm going to be an actress, it's not enough that I'm training and going to auditions. I want my experiences in life to be part of my education."
