“In my mind, I don't really see myself as famous. I just think my work is exposed to a wider audience.” Letitia Wright is a Guyanese-British actress, best known for her role as Shuri in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As a young child, her family moved to London. Motivated by her early interest in acting, she began participating in school plays and at age 16 enrolled in the Identity School of Acting. She began her career with television appearances with Top Boy and Humans, until in 2015 she landed her first starring role in Urban Hymn. She then continued to excel in television with appearances in Doctor Who and Black Mirror. Letitia co-starred in Black Panther (2018) as Shuri, the princess of Wakanda and reprised the role in Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022). With this performance, she became a symbol of empowerment for many young women by portraying a black woman in a leadership role. She also acted in films such as Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One (2018), The Commuter (2018) and Death on the Nile (2022). In addition, she lent her voice to Nooshy in the film Sing 2. She received several awards for her work, including a BAFTA, and has been recognized as one of the most promising young actresses of her generation, receiving praise for her ability to play characters with authenticity.
