Born and raised in Africa, he was educated in Zimbabwe and South Africa and in the US. Moving to New Zealand because of anti-apartheid beliefs, he did several science degrees before becoming an artist, then studied medicine. His first film (The Yowie (2010)) won the Award of Merit and best Cinematography at the LA Cinema Film fest in 2010. His second film, The White Feather (2014) (see Youtube), is about world war one. It won the inaugural Burn by Night arts festival, was the headline film at the Delegate Arts fest, and won the Best Young Persons in Film award at the Veterans Film Festival in 2015. He has written several books, including books on pregnancy and child health, cosmetic surgery, poetry and novels.
