Carley Marissa Dummitt was born West Palm Beach, Florida and calls the state her homeland (her lineage goes back five generations) although she grew up all over the United States. She spent her childhood moving to different cities in Illinois, South Dakota, Georgia, Texas and has resided in Florida several times although now she is based in Atlanta, Georgia. She is of Spanish, German and Native American descent. Carley Marissa started her first acting class at 20 at the Performers Studio Workshop in Tampa, FL. Shortly after that she moved to Austin, TX to be with her family and continue her studies. A year after studying wit CK McFarland, she joined a Meisner class at In the Moment Acting Studio taught by former casting director Laurel Vouvray. She spent almost four straight years studying with Laurel without ever taking a break and in 2012 was encouraged by her teacher to make her first film. She wrote, produced, directed and starred in her first short 'The Space Between Us' and submitted it to SXSW. After being declined from the festival, she sent it off to Shorts International. The company bought the film and it has since then won an Editor's Choice for their '100 Films by Her' series. The company also bought Carley's second short 'A Kiss Before You Go' which she wrote and directed. After spending five years submerged in the indie film community in Austin, Texas she packed her bags and made her way to Atlanta, Georgia in the summer of 2015.
