Emily Arnstein began her ballet training at the age of 7 in Pasadena, CA under the mentorship of Cynthia Young and Laurence Blake at Pasadena Dance Theatre. As a member of their company she performed in the Nutcracker, Graduation Ball, and original choreographic works for Regional Dance America Festival, to which she also contributed choreography. After 10 years of fighting off criticism for her non-ballet body type, Emily explored multiple genres of dance, including training at the Merce Cunningham, Paul Taylor, and Alvin Ailey schools in NYC, and studying various styles of African and Latin dance. She eventually found a home and acceptance in the hip-hop dance community, and was honored to be selected to perform in Carnival Choreographer's Ball twice and as a dancer on Nickelodeon's Fresh Beat Band. After 10 years of only hip-hop, Emily began collaborating with other artists in various genres of dance and is now in the process of forming a company alongside fellow choreographer Cynthia Mendez. She is also working closely with veteran hip-hop dancer, teacher, and choreographer Dante7 developing choreography to teach students at Edge Performing Arts Center in Hollywood, CA and Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio in North Hollywood, CA. Recent credits include Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade Ball and Muse Costume Ball at the Los Angeles County Museum of Arts.
