Jaya is a freelance film professional and vocal artist, with a wide scope of experience in the entertainment industry. She is a graduate of Griffith Film School and the Queensland Conservatorium of Music who now - along with English teaching - also works as an independent filmmaker, voice-over artist and professional vocalist. Jaya was born in Subiaco, Perth, WA, living the first 15 years of her life in the foothills of Darlington, where she began to learn ballet. This was followed by many years in theater encouraged by her Mother, where she began performing in many pantomimes and drama's from aged 7 years. After her parents divorced, her father (an architect) moved across to eastern Australia to a large property in northern NSW, which had the impact of removing the Arts completely from her life. She left a year later, and spent the next 20 years moving around, chasing unskilled work, then marrying and having a daughter. Her life changed dramatically on the death of her father when she realized she had to re skill, and follow her inner calling - singing and film. Finally she was able to go to University and she rediscovered the Arts. After graduating in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts [Screen Production and Music], Jaya spent many years of working with and teaching video production to young people, alongside performing and recording original songs. Jaya has worked in and around the Australian and International communities; plus been involved with all kinds of productions on both stage and screen (local & independent/ blockbuster & indie), both in front and behind the camera; as both a performing & recording artist (actor/singer); and she has produced quite a many short films and documentary's over the past ten years, often for free as she learned the ropes - she has learned much of her knowledge by simply doing it herself - but always including the community wherever she was in the world. Now Jaya Khoobsurat is the Creative Director of Tyrian Pearl Productions, a small independent Film Production company. Jaya is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society and a proud member of the MEAA Union that represents Artists, Musicians and Film professionals Australia-wide.
