Julie A. Cook

Julie A. Cook was born Julie Haughton in Arizona, in 1987. She became aware of her love for filmmaking at the age of 10, when she started reading American Cinematographer Magazine to learn how the films that invoked her reoccurring nightmares were made. Through a five-year subscription to that magazine, Julie studied the making of her favorite films as well as the roles of, and relationships between,cinematographers and directors. In 2006, Julie was accepted into Arizona State University's Film & Media Production Program where she wrote, directed, and produced her first film, "Last Look." At ASU, she enrolled in classes that spent time analyzing and recreating scenes from films through screenwriting, acting, or cinematography. Julie's broad interest in the filmmaking business narrowed down to a passion for screenwriting and producing. Julie left Arizona State University and in 2009, she was accepted into the nine-month intensive certificate program at the Sedona Film School. There, she received a hands-on education, learning about all the aspects of filmmaking - from photo release forms to Foley mixing. She graduated with her thesis film, "Soliloquy," which was nominated for Best Directing, Best Actress, and Best Screenplay at SFS's Student Film Festival. Today, she is an office administration and filmmaking professional.
