Adam R. Cook started making films in 2009 when he enrolled in the Sedona Film School at Yavapai College in Sedona, Arizona. There he spent nine months in the intensive Digital Filmmaking program, learning techniques in both the narrative and documentary genres. He graduated with his thesis film, Why Grey Matters (2010), which was nominated for "Best Cinematography," "Best Sound Design," and "Best Picture" at the Sedona Film School's 2010 Shorts Film Festival. Before attending school, Cook co-managed a custom home-building business in Arizona. He left his career to pursue his passion for filmmaking. His business management and leadership experience provided him with a sturdy foundation for building his career as a producer and director. Cook started out his career in filmmaking as a director of photography, earning on set experience from different kinds of productions. While in that role, producers and directors quickly recognized Cook's leadership skills and his ability to inspire the people around him. For his latest project, Cook has been working closely with Emmy Award-winning screenwriter Dev Ross to produce Touching the Wave, a feature film about a disheartened surfer who attempts to recover his prodigal surfing skills with help from an intuitive wanderer. Cook has signed on as the film's director and has completed the promotional trailer for the project. In 2013, Cook and producer Paul Winters began their collaboration on a feature film entitled, Walking Dead in the West (2016). As the film's director of photography, Cook was called upon to blend the cinematic look of the classic spaghetti western with the suspenseful style of a modern zombie film. The production was filmed entirely on location in Arizona and California, using the Red Epic-M. The film had a limited theatrical release and was received well by audiences. The Arizona State Press wrote, "Walking Dead in the West shines as a wild west horror flick." The film has worldwide distribution. In television, Cook was the director of photography and a producer for The Rocks (2013-14), a groundbreaking series, created and executive produced by Dev Ross. The series was shot on location in Sedona and aired on the local television station, Red Rock TV. Cook has been the director of photography and producer for numerous short films in a wide range of genres, including documentaries and music videos. His most recent work in the short film category was Dead West (2012), which earned him the Pinnacle Award for "Best Cinematography" at the Sedona Film School's 2012 Shorts Film Festival. Dead West was also an Official Selection at the Sedona International Film Festival in 2013.
