Kalyan was born in Pasadena, California but moved to Maryland at age 1 and then Long Island at age 8, where he lived until graduating as valedictorian of Ward Melville High School. He was also an Intel Science Talent Search Semi-Finalist, an All-State Vocal Soloist, a National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) Superior Writing Awardee, the winner in New York State of the Impromptu Speech category for the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). He attended Yale University and graduated magna cum laude with honors in both his majors: Theater Studies and Psychology. While at Yale University, he traveled the world with Redhot & Blue, Yale's oldest coeducational a cappella group, which also performed for Morgan Freeman and Harry Belafonte. Upon moving to New York City after graduation in 2012, Kalyan was nominated Best Actor at the Off-Broadway Strawberry One-Act Festival. He became part of the Flea Theatre company, the Actor's Project, and the American Globe Theatre. He also played the lead role of an worldwide-distributed Ernst & Young Industrial entitled "A Day in the Life" as Raj, the boss of the office. Kalyan worked as a tutor and personal development coach in addition to his work as an actor-singer-model. He graduated with his MBA with high honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and is the CEO of Prepmedians (prepmedians.com).
