Itandehui Jansen

Itandehui Jansen was born in Oaxaca, Mexico and is both a filmmaker and scholar. She studied an MFA in Directing Film at the Netherlands Film Academy in Amsterdam and conducted her PhD at the Academy of Creative and Performing Arts at Leiden University. Her films have screened at many different international film festivals, such as IDFA, the Cork International Film Festival and the Morelia International Film Festival. She participated in different development programs, such as the Berlinale Talents and the Binger Film Lab. Her short film The Last Council received several international prizes and was nominated to the Mexican Film Critics Award Diosa de Plata. Her first feature, the micro-budget film In Times of Rain has screened at over twenty international film festivals and again won several awards. She has lectured at different universities, among other in the department of Media Studies of Utrecht University. At present she is Lecturer and Programme Director for the Practice-based Film & TV Programme at the University of Edinburgh.
