Anneke Villet holds an Honours Degree and PGD in Dramatic Arts and has completed the NFVF's Spark and Sediba programs in Screenwriting, qualifying as a Script Editor. She started her varied 15-year career in the industry as a dancer and actress but quickly decided that she wanted to work behind the camera instead. As a freelance writer-producer, she had worked on a short film, three feature films, a sitcom, and two drama series, when she was recruited by Multichoice in 2014 to become its Afrikaans channel, kykNET's first commissioning editor for film. In 2017, she moved to the English-language channel, M-Net where she spearheaded its first scripted slate in almost a decade. During her tenure at Multichoice, she oversaw the development and/or production of over 65 short films, more than 50 feature films, 10 drama series, a daily drama and 15 High-End Co-Production series. High points of her career include attending the Durban Film Festival and Edinburgh Film Festival's Talent Labs, receiving two WGSA nominations for Best Writing in Comedy in 2014, writing and directing her first fully-funded short film in 2014, under the auspices of the NFVF's Female Filmmaker Project, and being selected for the 2018 Berlinale Talent Campus.
