Jo Dith is an American author/writer, farmer, film actor, producer & stuntman, legionnaire (USA), trucker and woodsman from Michigan. Nicknames include the tribal name "Stormbird", given to him by Native American elders, "Kujo" given to him by military and militia family, DRx (doc/doctor) an old street name and "Mac" as he is a member of the Scottish Clan Gregor/MacGregor by blood (King sept). Jo grew up in a diverse family made up of authors, boxers, hockey players, musicians, bikers and truckers, where he was exposed to sports, the arts and RPM's at an early age. As a youth he attended school on the border of southwest Detroit and downriver in the Ecorse and River Rouge school systems. Since his youth he's had a natural addiction and passion for the arts and has pursued them. After becoming a published poet as a teen, still in high school, his early twenties saw him break into the local music industry where he became one of Detroit's acid rap pioneers (along side with Esham, ICP and Kid Rock), start his own indie record label and the South Side Asylum network. Before long, he was crossing over into film productions as he was hired to play roles, help build film sets and with his music talents and connections, do score work, soundtrack arrangements and coordination on Detroit TV shows for Comcast Xfinity (Maclean Hunter at the time) and Detroit TV62. He also began to use his industry connections and neighborhood reputation to work on projects and fund organizations that helped troubled southwest and downriver Detroit youth dealing with violence, broken homes, drug and alcohol issues, sponsor talent shows and help fund programs that helped young mothers and fathers. After 9/11 (Sept 11, 2001), Jo got involved in the Army National Guard (MIVDF unit) and the Michigan Militia- received Honorable Discharge from the Army National Guard in 2019. During COVID's spread to America, with local churches and organizations doors closed, Jo formed a team that went into the streets of Toledo, OH, Monroe, MI and Detroit, MI every weekend in 2020 to pass out free bibles, bottled water, toilet paper, food and pray for and with people on the streets as needed. To this day while working and operating his farm, Jo maintains a balance of working in film, literature, speaking engagements and serving others. Jo belongs to the following groups: American Legion, Clan Gregor/MacGregor, Clan Gregor Society (American & International), International Brotherhood of Teamsters and Lions Clubs International.
