Justin Phillip was a working actor since he was 18. Starring in films, limited series, commercials, and animation. In 2016 a self-funded project led him to creating his own company: DogTimes Productions, LLC. He primarily operates as cinematographer, but also directs and produces. Being a classically-trained actor with numerous theatre, film, and television credits which span over nearly two decades, he has also made his mark as a director and producer. Creating award winning content, his films have played at the Laemmle and AMC theaters in Los Angeles. Born Justin Phillip Vanden Heuvel, he grew up in Florida and spent his youth skateboarding competitively and being the class clown in school. He began acting his freshman year of college. He was cast as Wiley in 'Wiley & The Hairy Man' and shortly after switched his major from Journalism to Theatre. He earned a degree from Florida Southern College and continued his theatre training into Grad School. In 2009 he studied abroad and received a Certificate of Advanced Acting Training from Stanislavski's Moscow Art Theatre School. In 2016 he was Nominated Best Supporting Actor at the Santa Monica International Film Festival. Justin's professional acting career began on stage. His most memorable stage credits include reprising Sal Mineo's role as Toby in the double-billed show 'The Medium' & 'Carmina Burana' at the Detroit Opera House. He was nominated for a Wilde Award (Michigan's version of the Tony's) for Best Actor in a Comedy for his portrayal as Puck in 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at the Hilberry Repertory Theatre Company. A past student of The Groundlings, he has hosted and performed in over 250 comedy sketch and improv shows throughout southern California and Las Vegas; performing at venues such as MGM Grand, Hard Rock, Roosevelt Hotel, The Bellagio, University of Nevada-Las Vegas, and even Fergie's 40th birthday party. He earned his SAG-AFTRA card in 2011 when he was cast in the animated pilot 'The Super Unknowns', produced by Eminem's former producer/writer and Oscar winner, Jeff Bass. In late 2017, Justin stepped behind the camera and unearthed his true passion: cinematography. In two years time he shot a short film for rising star Julia Fox, earned certifications as an ARRI & RED camera operator, and was Director of Photography on two feature films.
