Ivan Hexter is an award winning filmmaker based in Melbourne, Australia. Hexter began his media career as an intern at Channel 9 Melbourne before deciding to study film and television at Swinburne University. Following graduation he was offered employment as a camera assistant with a prominent production company, working on hundreds of commercials and several feature films, most notably with director Tim Burstall. Ivan then freelanced his services as camera operator and director of photography working on many commercial projects and several short films. During this period Ivan produced, directed and photographed several independent films including "Related Organics" and "Victorian Tapestry Workshop" In 1985 he commenced his own production company, With Direction Media. Ivan works as a director, editor and DOP, and producing commercial and factual programs. His 1 hour prime time ABC TV documentaries include: East Meets West; Hope Street; Lasetter - legend of the lost gold reef; Final Insult and Antarctic Oasis - a haunting journey. Hexter is passionate about creating content that matters. His latest factual project Tunnel Vision (2016) explores themes of social justice and follows the story of the communities that stood up to stop the largest road infrastructure project in the world, so that Melbourne might enjoy sustainable public transport.
