David Porteous is a Canadian documentary filmmaker, singer/songwriter, photographer, creative advisor, music producer, lead guitar player, multi-instrumentalist and comedy writer who resides in Toronto, Canada. Porteous began writing music at age 11, had his first radio play on CBC Radio 2 at the age of 14, was nominated as an Olympic Torchbearer, won First Prize in a National Anthem Song Contest, created the world's first music video for the deaf, holds a BA in documentary filmmaking and an honors diploma in sound engineering. Porteous wrote and recorded music for Eric Schaeffer's films "God the Worm" (starring Annabella Sciorra of The Sopranos, CSI, Law and Order) and Boy Meets Girl (starring Michael Welch of Twilight, CSI: NY) which premiered in New York City and has won over 30 film festival awards. Since 1999 Porteous has gained a wealth of experience as a audio/video engineer working in Canada, the UK and Germany producing and engineering over 100 music, film and video projects including many music albums, film scores, commercials and promotional videos. Porteous enjoys organizing fundraisers such as a fundraiser for the accessibility-focused StopGap Foundation which generated over $10 000 for the charity and also raised over $3000 for the Canadian Women's Foundation on a solo music tour. He is a proud supporter of veterans, is a WWII history buff and races for fun in the Canadian Rookie Karting Championship.
