Dr. Nathan A. Jacobs is an unusual filmmaker. He is an artist, turned scholar, turned writer-director. Jacobs began his career as a fine artist, trained at the Maryland Institute College of Art, one of the top art schools in the country. Driven by an insatiable interest in big questions, he accumulated degrees in Philosophy, Church History, Systematic Theology, and a pair of PhDs in Theology. During his studies, he paid the bills by working as a concept artist, producing character designs, storyboards, and pre-visualization animatics in the video-game industry, eventually working his way into CGI as a lead 3D character modeler. After years serving as a Professor of Philosophy and Religion, who had published award-winning and field changing books and articles, Jacobs' love for art and ideas covered in filmmaking. Jacobs' first feature film was the college comedy, Killing Poe (2016), followed quickly by the feature documentary, Becoming Truly Human (2017), which looks at the religiously unaffiliated, or "Nones," in the United States. He is presently in the final stages of development on his next feature narrative, which he is slated to direct. Jacobs has a first-look deal with an Lionsgate affiliate, where he is one of a handful of hand-picked content creators.
